Seminar Description

You have probably experienced this frustrating dilemma: how do you exert enough influence to get the job done when you're not given enough authority to do so? If you work in a project environment, you know that you need powerful interpersonal skills to influence team members who are not directly accountable to you. But how?
 
In this seminar you will learn a variety of communications methods to increase effectiveness in a number of situations and across stakeholder groups. Participants will also learn strategies for influencing and developing valuable relationships to meet program and organizational goals. 

What You Will Learn

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply interpersonal communication skills to build trust and rapport, ask the right questions and find common ground   
  • Determine when persuasive communication is effective.    
  • Employ the reciprocity principle to equitable exchanges, recognize creativity value and build an “influence credit account
  • Develop interpersonal influence awareness to develop better awareness of organizational and interpersonal dynamics   
  • Improve interpersonal influence tactic by learning practical ways to manage relationships and persuade

Dr. Joseph Reed is an organizational consultant who provides training and other individual and organizational effectiveness services to corporations and institutions. Joe's involvement with personal and organizational development dates back over twenty years. He has had direct managerial experience as a Marine Corps officer, university administrator, and manager of training & development within a financial services corporation. He currently heads J.R. Training, Inc., a training and organizational development consulting firm.Dr. Reed has also had experience as a graduate faculty member within the Management & Information Sciences Department at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia. He has taught management theory, organizational behavior and strategic management within the University's MBA program.Joe's educational experiences include a PhD from Temple University in organizational psychology and a master's degree from Glassboro State College, where he was trained as a counselor.
