Seminar Description

The foundational skills required to succeed as a project, program, or portfolio manager have tremendous overlap with the skills required to succeed in leadership roles, and PPPM’s can have clear career paths into high level leadership positions. This workshop is a pathway to leadership. We will connect strategies to tactics that build and develop PPPM’s leadership skills. Each day you will learn practical how-to’s that can propel you on your leadership journey.
Day 1: Foundation of Communication
Effective communication is the foundation of achievement. PPPMs require strong and adaptive communication skills. We’ll learn how to:
  • make your communications more adaptive

  • be a more disciplined listener, then learn how to really listen effectively
  • write emails that people will actually read

Day 2: Managing to Outcomes
The next step in the path toward leadership is delivering outcomes. We need to demonstrate our ability to get things done and to do so while maintaining strong relationships. We’ll learn how to:
  • increase discipline and motivation
  • set priorities and manage time for both yourself and others
  • find the right productivity techniques
  • motivate your team and avoid burn out
  • measure work in meaningful ways
  • drive a team to deliver outcomes
Day 3: Journey to Leadership
Finally, we’ll dive deep into specific knowledge, skills, and mindsets specific to leadership positions that will position you for executive level roles and enable your leadership as a project, program, and portfolio manager. We’ll share a bunch of secrets to successful people management, and we’ll learn how to:
  • build relationships and influence others
