Agile. A buzzword? A methodology? A way of thinking? Yes. It’s all of these things and more and you may have even heard it enough that you’re starting to think it’s yesterday’s fad. Think again! Agile development simply means operating successfully within a change-driven environment. The Agile Mindset had come of age as demonstrated by the acceptance of Agile methods in both the private and public sectors. Originally documented as a set of software-development methodologies, the Project Management industry has come to accept the reality that we are all working within a change-driven environment.
Project development lifecycles from the traditional (Waterfall) through iterative and to adaptive (Agile) have a doctrine for dealing with change. They vary from resistance to open acceptance, but the one constant is change. How we deal with dynamic inputs and moving targets often marks the difference between success and failure.
In this workshop, we will explore the Agile Practice Guide® (2017, The Project Management Institute). This revolutionary work is the result of the first collaboration between the Agile Alliance and the Project Management Institute (PMI)®. It’s an exciting time in the evolution of Project Management practices. Whether you are at the beginning of your Project Management journey or an experienced practitioner thinking about “going Agile”, this workshop will help you apply flexibility through the values and principles of Agile to a wide spectrum of project management challenges.
What You Will Learn
Describe agile processes and the agile mindset from the perspective of the Agile Practice Guide®.
Understand and identify various lifecycle development models and determine which method or combination of methods should be applied to a project in the initiation and planning phases.
Apply various agile principles to resolve common project management challenges during project execution.
Associate the benefits and risks of agile development within your environment to facilitate resource optimization and reporting when monitoring and controlling project work.
The table below displays the number of professional development units (PDUs) awarded for each PMI® credential, as they align to the PMI Talent Triangle®. Leadership and Strategic PDUs apply evenly across all credentials and Technical PDUs apply only to specific credentials. PDUs will be added in full to all eligible credentials.
